Slippery Rock University's budget landscape isn't the prettiest of sights. After dealing with a $5 million deficit in 2009-10, President Robert Smith was left with no other option than to have everyone at the university cut back on spending.

What do camels, blasting music and rock climbing have in common? The University Program Board's, "Rock Around the World Carnival" held in the Quad from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wed. "The goal of the carnival was to welcome students and give them time to relax before getting into the grind of classes and homework," UPB President, Marcie Johnson, 20, said.

New Union construction underway

Ground has been broken at the construction site of the new student union, President Robert Smith announced Thursday at the SGA meeting. President Smith said when finished, the union will span the size of half of a city block.
