The Student Government Association officially recognized the SRU Entrepreneurs Club as a new student organization on campus at its meeting Thursday during common hour.
Christopher Becker, a 20-year-old junior accounting major, will serve as the president of the SRU Entrepreneurs Club.
"We are going to offer to students of SRU the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurial opportunities for their future careers during their time of enrollment here at SRU," Becker said.
The SRU Entrepreneur Club is an organization that'll help SRU students gain knowledge and hands-on activities about entrepreneurs in their major.
Any major is welcome to join the club.
The organization will reach out to entrepreneurs in the region and welcome them in to speak, and give students the opportunity for students to learn about their future careers and the entrepreneurial experience.
In other SGA news, questions regarding the rules of the SGA pavilion in the Quad have arisen. The rules pertaining to organizations using the pavilion have been unclear to some people.
In response, SGA has decided to implement new pavilion rules in the near future so there'd be a common understanding, preventing confusion for future use of the pavilion.
Tyson Johnston, SGA vice president of public relations, explained the situation with the pavilion.
"The SGA public relations committee created the rules for the pavilion about a year ago," he said. "After a year, we wanted to review the rules and see if there could be any modifications, deletions, etc."
Johnston said that Jordan Bailley, a member of the SGA public relations committee, had a conversation with Dr. Christopher Cole, director of the University Union, about the pavilion and the scheduling that occurs with the organizations that want to use it.
"After the conversation Jordan and Dr. Cole had, we decided that we might need look into adding a limit to the amount of time you can have the pavilion reserved for," he said. "We are in the process of looking into the amount of time and how often organizations reserve the pavilion."
Johnston said that making sure every organization on campus has its fair share of pavilion use is a priority.
