The final game of the season was a tough one for Rock football who lost four out of its last five games to finish the season 6-5 overall and fifth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-West Division.

SRU lost Saturday to East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, 54-28, after giving up 20 unanswered points to start the game.

Junior linebacker Tyler Henderson said the Warriors are a good football team, but the Rock should've beaten them.

"It was our seniors' last game and the last game of the season," he said. "It was a pretty big game because we could have prevented them from going to the playoffs."

The Rock rushed for 279 yards-169 of which came from senior running back Demarcus Cleckley and 98 from freshman running back Akeem Satterfield-and gave up only 93 rushing yards. On the other hand, SRU gave up 284 passing yards and only threw for 93.

Head coach George Mihalik said the Rock moved the ball offensively and the statistics looked good, but the loss was a matter of turnovers.

"Having seven turnovers puts yourself at a disadvantage," he said. "We had a lot to overcome."

Freshman quarterback Ryan O'Rourke and sophomore quarterback Rocco Colavecchia were 5-for-21 combined passing and threw six interceptions, including three that were returned for touchdowns.

Henderson said that turnovers played a big part in the loss, but losing was a team effort.

"Throwing that many interceptions doesn't help, but the defense didn't play as well as we should have either," he said. "Defense gave up 20 points in the first couple minutes, so you can't blame the game on one side of the ball."

Cleckley put SRU on the board with a 2-yard touchdown at the six-minute mark in the first quarter. Junior running back Ryan Lehmeier then rushed in for a 7-yard touchdown to chip away at the Warriors's lead, 20-14.

East Stroudsburg then scored an additional 27 unanswered points until Satterfield scored the third Rock touchdown of the game from the ESU 7-yard line, and O'Rourke threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to freshman receiver Kenny Cottman for the last Rock points of the game.
