Same scarf, different style, new fashion

I've had scarves on my mind lately. It seems that about 85 percent of all the gifts I receive are scarves, and this birthday was no different. Not that I'm complaining, because I love scarves. Now I have four new ones of varying styles and patterns. My goal is to find fresh and exciting methods of tying them and incorporating them into my wardrobe.
I've had several people ask me how I tie my scarves, so we'll start with the basics. Choose your favorite scarf, but it must be square or the following instructions won't work or even make sense.
Lay the scarf flat. Pick up one corner and match it up to the opposite corner to create a triangle. Pick up the scarf by the more acute angled corners, and hold it in front of you so that it points to the floor. Wrap the ends around your neck and make adjustments until the scarf is to your desired length.
Now you have a few options. Most often, I tie the ends in a loose knot on top of the triangle. However, you can also tie the ends underneath the triangle for a cleaner shape, or just let them hang for a more casual look.
A scarf can complete an outfit, but don't make the mistake of thinking that the only place scarves belong is around your neck. They have many more uses than that, and it'd be a shame to confine them to one function.
Most women have one or two purses that they rely on for everyday use. Choose a patterned scarf that complements your purse and tie it to a strap to make a fresh look. Tie it in a simple knot and let the ends fly in the wind, or create a big, dramatic bow.
Maybe you carry an enormous bag that contains everything you could possibly need in any type of situation, yet seriously lacks organization. Find a smaller, bright, silky scarf and tie it to your keys. If you're looking into your purse, the eye-catching color will instantly jump out. And if you can only feel for your keys, the silky fabric will be quickly identifiable.
I'm also very excited that I figured out a version of a head wrap, which I think is extremely pretty, especially with a thick bow on the side. But I need more hair before I can fully pull this off.
I'd recommend that everyone own at least three decorative scarves. They're so versatile and can transform a simple outfit into something really cute and unique. The best way to discover your favorite way to style a scarf is just to experiment in front of a mirror.
So grab your favorite one and get to it!
