Saturday, Nov. 14 saw the end of a fabulous 'International Week'. The week started off with the international sports night, followed by the fashion show on Monday, Showcase on Tuesday and Roundtable on Thursday.

The turnout of students to most of the events was quite disappointing, but couldn't be helped since the events had to compete against various other events such as the Pittsburgh Steelers game. This was especially true in the case of the fashion show.

There were a number of empty seats thanks to 'friends' preferring to watch the Steelers game overshadowing support of the show, which was definitely a thorn to the happiness they shared due to the success of the event. But, along with the many changes that they're adjusting to during their stay in the United States, they were ready to accept it as a part of the American culture, that when it comes to the biggest game of the season for their team, nothing else counts.

Most students didn't grace the other events either due to a lack of knowledge about what was in offended at these events, or simply due to a lack of interest.

But this didn't fade the beauty of the culturally diverse events of the International week.

Experiencing the various cultures present here at Slippery Rock University, was a rare treat for those who came to these events and they left feeling amazed at the diversity out there in the world. To the final event of the week- the international dinner, surprisingly, tickets were sold out. When the dinner itself came about, I realized that most of those who couldn't come to the other events had invested a Saturday evening to come and show support to the international students at the dinner.

This brought a warm feeling to the heart of many of the international students, because the MPR was definitely a full house, unlike at the fashion show.

In my opinion the dinner was a complete success.

There was a wide variety of food- all delicious, entertainment- from different cultures and the Internations club of SRU finally shone out at this grand event.

Students, people from the village of Slippery Rock and faculty members were the main body of the dinner.

SRU welcomed the international students with great appreciation and many thanks should be given to the Internations club and the International services office for the job done well.
