The Rock looked better in the second half, holding the Panthers to only 17 percent (5-of-29) shooting from the field, but the offense had trouble scoring.
During one stretch, the Rock went a little over two minutes without scoring a basket. With 3:47 remaining, SRU held an 18-point lead, 77-59.
Madzie wanted to keep the deficit under 20 points.
"My experience is that if we can play a Division II team within 20 points, that's pretty good," he said. "I don't really believe in moral victories, and we were within 19 points within a few minutes to go."
Satterwhite scored a layup to push the lead to 20, and a jumper by Evans and a dunk by Spriggs pushed the Rock lead to 24 points.
Satterwhite closed the scoring with a layup to give the Rock a 88-61 win.
Reynolds said he knows the team needs to get better before it plays Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania tomorrow.
"We need to get a lot better in the next week," he said. "I don't think we took advantage of our opportunity today. We only have 26 more of these opportunities left this season. Every game is important."
